The UAE has been ranked the world’s fifth most competitive country in the latest IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook 2026, published by the International Institute for Management Development.
The report highlights the UAE’s strong and consistent performance across multiple pillars of competitiveness, with the nation securing first place globally in several key categories, including economic performance, bureaucracy efficiency, adaptability of government policy, employment, international experience, national culture, and quality of air transportation.
Regionally, the UAE emerged as the top-ranked nation in the Middle East, further strengthening its position as a leading global hub for business, investment, and innovation.
The achievement was also praised by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, who said the result reflects the country’s continued global standing.
“The UAE continues to affirm its place among the world’s most competitive nations,” he said.
The ranking underscores the country’s ongoing efforts to enhance governance, diversify its economy, and maintain a high level of global connectivity and adaptability in a rapidly changing world.
