Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority conducted more than 1.6 million passenger transport inspections during the first half of 2026, an increase from around 1.5 million inspections during the same period last year.
Despite the higher number of checks, passenger transport violations fell by 21% to around 30,000, showing improved compliance across the sector.
Illegal passenger transport violations recorded an even bigger drop of 57%, falling from 797 cases last year to 340 cases in the first half of 2026.
The RTA also impounded 244 vehicles after drivers fled inspection teams. This was 48% lower compared with the same period last year.
Public transport recorded more than 1.2 million inspections, with a compliance rate of 97.8%. School transport also recorded around 92% compliance.
The RTA said joint inspection campaigns with Dubai Police and other government agencies, along with the use of smart data analysis, are helping improve safety and compliance.
The authority added that these efforts are also supporting better service standards across Dubai’s passenger transport network.
The latest figures highlight Dubai’s continued focus on using technology, inspections and coordinated enforcement to make public and passenger transport safer and more reliable.
