Dubai is set to introduce a redesigned addressing system with new street, area and house number signs across the emirate.

The new system will be rolled out across 186 areas by 2030. More than 2,000 signs will be installed or replaced during the first phase, covering areas including Za’abeel, Nad Al Sheba, Al Khawaneej and Nazwa.

The new signs will use five colours to reflect the character of different areas. Blue will represent coastal locations, while gold will represent desert areas.

House number plates will also be upgraded. They will include the property’s Makani number along with a QR code that provides information about the area, street and nearby attractions.

The system has been developed in partnership with the Roads and Transport Authority and Dubai Municipality. It will eventually be extended to bus stops, mobile apps and map boards.

The phased rollout is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026, making it easier for residents, visitors and delivery services to identify locations across Dubai.
