After being ruled out of the World Cup for three weeks, Indian team’s nightmare has come true after Shikhar Dhawan has been officially ruled out of the entire tournament.

Shikhar Dhawan had sustained a fracture of the base of the first metacarpal on his left hand following a ball impact injury during India vs Australia on the 9th of June. After several medical consultations and he has been advised to keep his hand in a cast until Mid July.

Rishabh Pant who is also a left-hander just like Shikhar Dhawan steps in as a replacement and is rumored to step into KL Rahul’s position in the batting order while KL opens with the experienced Rohit Sharma.
